APRIL 27th sees the release of the debut APOSTILLE LP “Powerless.” APOSTILLE is the recording and performing project of Night School boss Michael Kasparis. Having started as a home-damaged pop music, Apostille has grown into a live-wire synth punk prospect that bridges physicality and emotive leakage.
We’re proud of this album and hope that it connects. Below is a track from the LP, live favourite “Good Man”
We’ve been in touch with Paper Dollhouse for a while now, ever since some records were exchanged, and were flattened by the stark, enveloping beauty of their second LP “Aeonflower.” We were flattered that the duo wanted to release it through Night School, so it’s with a lot of excitement we present “Helios” from Aeonflower.
Aeonflower will be released on March 2nd. The vinyl will be limited to 500 and you can pre-order it HERE.
Our friends over at Bird Records are making a limited cassette edition and will be selling digital formats.
It’s with a lot of pride and trepidation that we’re announcing an epic collaboration with Rose McDowall, commencing in 2015

On the eve of her first large-scale performance in years supporting Jesus and Mary Chain, solo-artist and ex-member of cult pop group Strawberry Switchblade, Rose McDowall and Night School Records are proud to announce an extensive archive project commencing in 2015. Spanning Rose’s 34 year career, the project will include reissues and unreleased recordings alongside unseen photographs and new sleeve notes.
Rose McDowall began her career in her hometown of Glasgow, operating within the nascent punk scene with her first group The Poems. After a meteoric rise to pop stardom with Strawberry Switchblade (along with friend Jill Bryson), McDowall submerged herself in the post-industrial landscape, recording with the likes of Coil, Boyd Rice and Current 93.
Shortly after, she began recording with her own group Sorrow, before disappearing into the underground, re-surfacing for occasional performances only.
At the personal invitation of the Jesus and Mary Chain,Rose McDowall will support the band at Glasgow’s Barrowlands on 21st and 23rd November.
Our good friends at Hartzine have commissioned a wonderful, tripped out disco mix from Happy Meals. “Digestif” is streaming HERE, or you can listen below. You will never listen to Madonna the same way again.
As the northern hemisphere’s summer turns to overcast skies and its population driven underground, James Donadio’s Prostitutes provides the driving, brain-blasting soundtrack. Released on September 8th via Night School, “Nouveauree” is the acclaimed Ohio producer’s toughest set to date of palette-cleansing techno tracks…
Available as Limited to 500, Recycled Manilla board sleeve with Download and Sticker.
Ever since a chance meeting at Les Urbaines festival in Lausanne, Switzerland, we’ve maintained close communications with James and are incredibly proud to present Nouveauree. One of the most open-minded and free-thinking musicians working in the field, Prostitutes brings a perverted sense of funk and a punk attitude to the chopping table. Records will ship beginning of September.
Thank you for all your support and orders over the last few months. Having completed our move to Glasgow we’ve been enjoying the city immensely. It’s a good time to be here and we’re excited to be presenting some new discoveries on the label in the future.
Hola. On 28th July Molly Nilsson will be releasing a mini-LP of brand new songs written and recorded during her stay in Buenos Aires earlier this year. Inspired by the crumbling landscape and the heavy hearts that populate it, Sólo Paraíso is not only an ode to a specific time and space but a musical novella that meditates on youth, idealism and belonging.
We are thrilled to present 9 of our favourite artists under one roof at the onset of Summer. On Bank Holiday Sunday May 25th Molly Nilsson and Group Rhoda will join Meddicine, Yong Yong, Clip Art, Hausfrau, Ubre Blanca, Happy Meals and Apostille at the Glasgow Art School. There will be a BBQ from 1am and dancing till 3am. The first 100 people through the door will receive a tape compilation “You Know Where You Are” featuring sounds from the 9 artists involved.
Screenprinted posters by artist Lucy Jones will also be on sale on the day.
As you may or may not be aware, the annual advent of Record Store Day means that non-Record Store Day releases end up being delayed. Unfortunately this has happened with both Molly Nilsson “These Things Take Time” and Charcoal Owls “Tin Roof.” We’ve been told we should be receiving both in the next week or two so will commence shipping as soon as possible. Thanks for bearing with us.
